Back. In Black. Crows. Revolv.er

Hey guys, I’m back. Took a bit of time off to put my head back together but I could no longer ignore the new video teasers bursting the seams of my Inbox so here I am.

Had a hard time figuring out how to ease back in gracefully so I decided instead on a shameless product plug to big’ up the locs, yo. To get us all ready for the upcoming season the chargers over at Black Crows have launched a new blog that is guaranteed to be every bit as awe-inspiring and thought-provoking as their skis and a faithful daily following might even give you the chance to perfect your French before the season starts and you start workin’ the ladies at aprés ski.

Or you could just buy the skis, which, based on extensive scientific research, has proven to be the most effective method by far. Just ask Julien Régnier. Or if he’s not on your Friends list then check out his latest disco moves in the new Poorboyz teaser, Revolver.

Fourteen 14ers: The Ripper Goes Skiing

My teammates from Denali, The Ripper Dave Schipper and James ‘Over Easy’ Healy, thought they’d get a last blast of skiing in before the season ends. For these guys that  involves 12,000 meters of climbing over more than 200 kilometers at over 3500 meters. With what sounds to me like very heavy packs. Erm … thanks for the invite guys but maybe I’ll catch you next year for a couple of powder turns in Silverton instead.

Check out the gear list as they prepare for their departure on 28 March at which point you’ll be able to follow their progress on a regular basis at http://outdoorlabs.wordpress.com/.

Point A to Point B – Part 2

Keeping up with the Joneses ain't as easy as it used to be.

And for those days when there’s just too much salt on the road to get the bike out why not opt instead for a 276bhp Lotus Evora like this one that a number of people spotted around Chamonix last week. And while many believed it was for the filming of a new Bond movie, we should really set the record straight and admit that it was, in reality, the ChamonixInsider taking the long way to Super U for a carton of milk – as you do when you’ve got a coupla these beauties parked in your spacious, underground, hermetically-sealed automotive museum.

Moots Snoots Looks Good Beneath Your Glutes

Hallelujah! Today I saw the first bicycle of the spring and it got me all jacked to dust off the Steam Punk and get her back on the road. On the other hand, I’m loving the snow and don’t want to see it come to an end anytime too soon. So as I’m pondering the apparent paradox between snow and biking a Twitter alert pops up from the knowledgeable crew at BikeRumor.com about their visit to the 2010 Norte Americano Handmade Bicycle Show where they came across this burly Moots Snoots snow bike.

Now there’s a couple things I really dig about this bike.

#1 It’s a siiiiiick looking bike.

#2 It’s made by Moots, an OG titanium mountain bike builder the bikes from whom have been the object of my desire since I first straddled a mountain bike about 175 years ago.

#3 Just by looking at it you can tell this beast is going to shred even the deepest snow between you and your intended destination.

#4 Did I mention it’s titanium?

If you’re into the specs, check out the video.

Product Preview: 2010/11 Black Diamond Quadrant

Thomas Hodel, James Morland, Thomas Laakso – Col du Passon

The Black Diamond crew – Thomas Hodel (European Marketing Manager) and Thomas Laakso (Ski Category Director) – rolled through Chamonix the other day and inside their oversized packs were a whole load of flash new ski gear. Especially interesting to someone like me – who is currently putting a lot of backcountry miles in with my alpine boots – was the new line of AT boots. I didn’t get to try them because my feet (size 27.5 – hint, hint) are slightly larger than sample size but they look amazing.

Thomas L. was rocking the Quadrant and charging like a madman, both up and down the hill. In the video below he talks us through the idea behind BD’s new boot.

Anybody out there skied this boot yet? If so, let us know what you think in the Comments below.
